KDAB and Qt at Embedded World Nuremberg

Embedded World Nuremberg was bigger than ever this year (over 30,000 visitors!), with a large number of exhibitors displaying “Qt friendly” signs in Hall 4, showing how far we’ve come in recent years

This year KDAB exhibited alongside The Qt Company and other Qt partners at one gigantic stand devoted to all things Qt.

Automotive dominated this year, and a big attraction on the Qt booth was the superb RIMAC electric supercar for which KDAB provided a tablet-based digital brochure, integrating augmented reality features that were implemented with Qt 3D.

We had an impressive array of other demos including:

  • Meiller Diagnostics App – our ground breaking Meiller tipper truck application for facilitating vehicle maintenance on the road and
  • Kurth KE3600 xDSL Multitester – an embedded diagnostic device used by network service technicians in the field, along with its companion app for transporting measurement results via barcodes – both powered by Qt.

KDAB delivered three talks on-site and we’ll bring you downloads of those in the coming months. For now, we’ll share some of the impressions from the KDAB team at EWN, who had a lot of fun.

“Tons of conversations with our Qt partners and customers.”

“Inspiring to see Qt being used more and more on a wide range of devices!”

“New visitors got a great overview of what Qt can do.”

“The Qt Party was awesome :).”

Some even managed to check out the other booths:

“It was great to see the etnaviv Open Source GPU driver for i.MX6 running a QtQuick application at the Pengutronix booth. Looking forward to a stable release that can be used in our customer projects where we use QtWayland on the i.MX6”.

and finally “Borat and the beer at the party was very nice”.
