Starter Edition Insights
For the tenth anniversary of the Qt Developer Days, we have introduced the Starter Edition. We asked the main event coordinator, Frances Tait, to tell us a bit more about how this concept came about:
What prompted you to develop this program?
The Starter Edition came out of a discussion about the pros and cons of the increasingly high level of technical talks available at Qt Developer Days. On the one hand this makes the Qt developer community happy as it enables everyone to catch up with the latest developments and innovations so we continue to produce excellent results in the marketplace. On the other hand this situation makes Qt Developer Days increasingly inaccessible to developers who are new to Qt and managers wanting to evaluate what this Qt thing is without being swamped with developer jargon.
Why is inaccessibility a problem?
This is a real and potent dilemma for the Qt Community which every member needs to be aware of. If we want to protect our future, we need to become accessible to new talent. The Starter Edition concept is a response to this perceived need. We hope that all friends of Qt will consider sharing this information amongst their colleagues and helping us to grow the community.
What do you want to tell the Qt Community about the Starter Edition?
Perhaps you know someone with some training budget not used up who could benefit from a fast track initiation into the all round benefits of Qt. Perhaps you know someone where you think Qt might offer a better solution than their current set-up. Let them know they can have access to some of the top people in the Qt world both professionally and socially from 8-9 October in Berlin. Thanks!
